Kimmel has some competition

Good morning and Happy Sunday! It’s a busy news weekend. Trump spent his day yesterday banning CNN from Air Force One, telling a female reporter to be quiet, and getting booed to hell at a football game — in Tennessee.

We’ll get into that, plus:

  • Trump cancels $1 billion in congressionally approved spending

  • Mamdani's fight with Amazon is already spreading to other cities

  • Trump is being forced to campaign in deep red states for midterms

  • Hackers breach Kash Patel's FBI and Pete Hegseth's Pentagon

  • A grand jury decided Nolan Wells drowned. His autopsy might say otherwise

  • Jimmy Kimmel’s wife steals the show as Natalie Harp

  • And: John Fetterman’s freudian slip about being a Republican is too on the nose

And we’ve rounded up some other headlines you might have missed. Let’s get into it.

Trump bans CNN from Air Force One, silences a reporter, then gets booed at a football game — all in 24 hours

The weekend started with the White House barring CNN from the Air Force One press pool for Trump's trip to Knoxville, Tennessee — a petty but deliberate escalation in his war on any outlet that won't perform loyalty.

When MS Now correspondent Akayla Gardner asked him directly, "Do you only want outlets that support you to be a part of the press pool?" Trump told her to "be quiet."

Then he landed in deep-red Tennessee, appeared on the Jumbotron at Neyland Stadium, and got loudly booed. Air Force One had buzzed the stadium on arrival. The crowd inside was less impressed.

Trump cancels $1 billion in congressionally approved spending

Donald Trump's Office of Management and Budget announced Friday it is canceling nearly $1 billion in spending that Congress already approved, targeting immigrant services and diversity programs.

The White House even made a point of noting that some of the targeted groups are run by people who worked for Barack Obama.

All these years later, and Obama STILL lives rent free in his head.

The move invokes the rarely-used and legally contested presidential power of impoundment — the same power courts have repeatedly ruled presidents don't actually have. Calling the cuts "the most harmful government spending," the White House is essentially daring Congress to sue while absentee ballots are already being cast in November's midterms.

The Grifter-in-Chief pulled the same stunt last year to block $4.9 billion in foreign aid. Nobody stopped him then, so he came back for more.

Zohran Mamdani's fight with Amazon is already spreading to other cities

Mayor Mamdani is pushing a bill that would strike directly at Amazon's outsourcing model — and the battle is already spreading beyond New York.

The bill is simple. The people delivering Amazon packages wear Amazon uniforms and drive Amazon vans, but they're paid by subcontractors, so Amazon never has to call them employees — or treat them as such. Mamdani wants to end that.

Amazon has spent more than $5 million trying to kill the bill.

This is a direct confrontation with one of the most powerful corporations in the country over how it structures work and avoids accountability to the workers doing it.

The fact that other cities are watching and moving means Mamdani isn't just running a local fight — he's building a bigger fight.

Amazon has spent years making itself too big to challenge. Someone is challenging it anyway. It's the latest round in a fight between Bezos and Mamdani that's been going for years. Watch our explainer on how we got here.

Trump forced to campaign in deep red states as Republicans admit "we're gonna get crushed"

In a humiliating move ahead of midterms, Trump is being forced to campaign in deep-red states — some of which he carried by more than 30 points.

Oklahoma. Alabama. Texas. Alaska. Iowa. Florida.

Nobody cares more about how things look than Donald. And this looks TERRIBLE.

He's heading for supposedly friendly territory because the races that should be safe are slipping away. Texas, Alaska, Iowa and Florida are all states Trump carried easily, and in the first three his handpicked Senate candidates are now losing. James Talarico leads Ken Paxton 50–44 in Texas. Mary Peltola is up about 4 points on Dan Sullivan in Alaska. In Iowa, Josh Turek leads Ashley Hinson by 8.

Republicans are panicking. A leaked GOP memo is begging donors to pour money into Alaska, Iowa and Ohio, states they used to take for granted. One House Republican privately admitted, "We're gonna get crushed."

Some of their own candidates are distancing themselves from the Toddler-in-Chief, scrubbing any mentions of him from their campaign websites.

Jimmy Kimmel's wife steals the show as Natalie Harp

Thursday night, Jimmy Kimmel's monologue got interrupted by his very own "Natalie": his wife and head writer Molly McNearney, weighed down with golf clubs, a laptop, two phones and a bag of toiletries.

Asked to wait backstage, she refused. "I can't see you backstage! I can't hear you backstage. I cannot smell you backstage. I can't wipe you backstage." She called Kimmel her "guardian and protector," offered to run his social media, and sat at his feet. Then she added, "Your wife doesn't deserve you!"

That's a lot of material, and almost none of it had to be invented. The real Harp is Trump's executive assistant and his "human printer." She hands him printouts of flattering news, helps with his Truth Social posts, and has written him letters like "You are all that matters to me." She once climbed into the trunk of an SUV to follow him to his Manhattan trial.

When the parody barely has to exaggerate, the joke is on the White House.

The two men in charge of guarding America's secrets just lost millions of them.
