Good morning and happy Thursday! This is Notice News. Volodymyr Zelensky says Ukraine is losing America as a partner, and the same day, his military lost full use of Starlink.
We’ll get into that, plus:
The Trump administration wants to strip Ilhan Omar of her citizenship
Trump told a rally crowd his doctors call sick fans “collateral damage”
A GOP congressman blamed Democrats for diesel prices, and the crowd laughed at him
James Talarico faced Texas voters on live TV. Ken Paxton was invited too.
At least six protesters interrupted Pete Hegseth in one speech
Plus: Joni Mitchell, 82, just became a U.S. citizen, two years after saying she wished she could vote
Zelensky says Ukraine is losing America. The same day, his military lost full use of Starlink.
Ukrainian forces woke up Wednesday to find the military version of Starlink throttled without any warning. Terminals moving faster than about 100 mph lost their connection. That means drones and aircraft.
“Our defence forces did not receive a warning about this limitation and this led to the disruption of several missions,” said Serhiy Beskrestnov, an adviser to Zelensky.
It happened the same night Russia fired 39 ballistic missiles and more than 120 drones at Kyiv, the region around it, and Kharkiv. At least 600,000 people lost power.
SpaceX owner Elon Musk says it isn’t his call and blamed Trump. Starshield, the military network, is “owned and controlled by the US government,” he said, and any limits are “decided by the US military and ultimately” by Trump.
The White House and the Pentagon didn’t respond to ABC News. The restrictions started to loosen as the day went on.
Last weekend, Musk posted that “Zelenskyy has gone too far.”
Then Zelensky sat down with Piers Morgan. Asked if he felt betrayed by Trump’s diesel deal with Putin, he said, “Really, yes.”
“We have lost an ally in America. They have chosen their side. Not ours, not even the middle. Putin’s side. They have chosen the wrong side of history.”
Last week, Trump said Ukraine should “get a new leader who can make a deal.”
Musk says it’s Trump’s call. The White House isn’t answering.
Trump’s Justice Department wants to strip Ilhan Omar of her citizenship and deport her
Monday’s search of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s home was step one. The Wall Street Journal reports the administration is building a case to strip her citizenship and deport her.
Agents took her passport, her phone, her computers and her notebooks.
The question is whether Omar or her father changed her age from 18 to 17 on her immigration paperwork. Her father died in 2020. There is, of course, no evidence this happened.
The tip about her paperwork reached Homeland Security under Biden. Investigators looked into it, found no evidence of fraud, and dropped it.
Regardless of all that, investigators have now sent more than a dozen subpoenas, some to her relatives, seeking grand jury testimony in Minnesota.
Omar came to the U.S. as a refugee from Somalia in 1995 and became a citizen in 2000. She’s on the ballot in 19 days.
“President Trump would love to eliminate one of the most effective progressive voices in Congress,” her office said. “There is no basis for this.”
Trump claims he had “nothing to do” with the search. But in January, he posted that “‘Scammer’ Ilhan Omar and her absolutely terrible friends from Somalia should all be in jail right now.”
Trump tells rally crowd his doctors call sick supporters “collateral damage”
Trump was in Bullhead City, Arizona, on Wednesday, bragging about his medical team. “I travel with more doctors than any of them,” he said.
Then he explained what they do for the crowd. “If people get sick in the audience, they leave them alone. You know what they call them? Collateral damage.”
He picked out a man in the audience. “He looks like shit actually. He looks like he’s ready to have a heart attack.”
“If he actually had a heart attack, you know what my doctors would do?” Trump asked. “They would leave him alone.”
Then he moved on to his cognitive test. “They show you a lion, a bear, a giraffe and a snake,” he said. Then come five words to remember.
“Almost no one can do it,” he said. “But I can because I’m a freaking genius.”
He also told the crowd that “leakers should be shot.”
This was after he waxed poetic about admiring a random Senator’s ass on stage.
He’s 80, and he’d like you to know he remembered the words.
A GOP congressman blamed Democrats for diesel prices. The crowd laughed in his face.
Inflation hit 3.7% in September, up from 3.4% in August. Gas prices jumped 9.1% in one month, and the national average is $4.33 a gallon. Thanks, Biden.
Only 17% of adults approve of how Trump is handling the cost of living.
Rep. Andy Harris, the only Republican in Maryland’s House delegation, tried to explain it to voters at a League of Women Voters debate in Cambridge on Tuesday night.
“The fact is that diesel prices have gone up, there’s no question about it,” he said. Then he blamed “the Democrats and environmental regulations.”
People laughed before he could finish.
“You should let me finish the sentence, ma’am,” Harris said. “You are rude!”
“You’re rude,” someone shot back.
“You’re rude, too!” Harris answered.
Another attendee told him, “You started it.”
Harris has been in Congress since 2011. Republicans have run the House, the Senate and the White House since January 2025. They are still trying to blame Democrats.
James Talarico faced Texas voters on live TV. Ken Paxton was invited too.
Talarico, the Democrat running for Senate in Texas, did a CNN town hall with Jubilee on Wednesday night and took questions from Democrats, Republicans and independents. Paxton has refused to debate him.
Since Paxton didn’t show, the CNN town hall put Talarico opposite voters at a desk and allowed them to debate him instead. This exchange on abortion is going viral this morning.
He touched on his last two weeks. “I opened up social media and learned that I apparently had dropped out of the race, had flown to a mental hospital in Ohio, that I had died,” he said. “This is crazy.”
“Conspiracy theories don’t put food on the table. They don’t put gas in the tank.”
Then he told the story of his diabetes diagnosis. When he left the hospital, he went to Walgreens for his first 30 days of insulin. It cost him $684.
“I didn’t have that kind of money, so I put it on a credit card,” he said.
On teachers, he said, “We’ve got teachers who are driving Ubers at night” to make extra money.
“The truth is we’re all on the same team.”
One candidate showed up to answer voters’ questions. The other is Ken Paxton.
Protesters interrupted Pete Hegseth at least six times in one speech
Hegseth was speaking on a drone panel at the Association of the United States Army conference in Washington yesterday when the first protester held up a “No War With Iran” banner.
She shouted about “pulling children’s body parts out from under the rubble.” Hegseth waited and joked, “She thinks highly of me.”
Then came the next one, and the next. At least six were removed.
One called him a “coward” and asked why the people in the room were “making money off of bombs killing my family.” Another started in on how “we spend $1.5 trillion on war.” Others called him a “war criminal.”
The last one told him, “The world f---ing hates you!”
65% of Americans disapprove of how the administration is handling the Iran war. CNN puts the cost at about $45 billion, roughly $2,000 per household.
Most groups estimate about 3,000 Iranians have been killed, including nearly 400 children.
Secretary of War Crimes Pete Hegseth has announced that he will be publicly livestreaming the execution of a Muslim man by military firing squad for the whole world to see.
The United States has not held a public execution since 1936. There has not been a public military execution since before the Civil War.
It is obvious that in one fell swoop, Hegseth is kickstarting the normalization of public executions, military executions, and the execution of Muslims.
We cannot allow Hegseth to drag our nation back to medieval times with these gruesome displays of murder. Congress must take action to permanently ban public executions in America.
