TOP STORY
Trump Wants 10,000 More Troops in the Middle East While Pretending He's Negotiating Peace

Thirteen American service members are dead, nearly 300 wounded, and dozens are hospitalized in Germany with traumatic brain injuries — and the Pentagon's answer is to send 10,000 more troops to the Middle East.
This while Trump tells a Republican fundraising dinner that Iran "wants to make a deal so badly" but is afraid to say it. Iran's foreign minister flatly denied any negotiations are happening.
Fresh polling shows military action in Iran has a net approval rating of negative 16. Trump's handling of Iran sits at negative 28. His personal approval rating has hit its lowest point yet: negative 18.
And according to reports, Trump privately wants this whole thing wrapped up in a couple weeks because it's distracting him from other priorities.
➡️ Question of the Day
🗳️ Yesterday’s poll results
Yesterday, we asked, Will rising gas prices hurt Trump's approval with Republicans?
OVER 80% OF YOU SAID YES:
“The recent Presidential election was based on the cost of living. Eggs, housing, gas to name a few. This interest has not changed. Republicans will feel the election heat and fall victim to a burning defeat. ”
- markwkoenen
“MAGA Republicans will follow Trump into hell rather than admit that they are wrong. Trump has delivered on every promise set forth in the Project 2025. People who voted for him should not be surprised.”
- susanhend61“I always said when the financial pain hurt them as well as Democrats, republican approval of him and his policies will take a nose dive. Until then, Progressives are in this battle pretty much alone.”
- twoasps
“They will find a way to blame someone else.”
- cammyreiger
“It might be the only deal breaker for many of them. They've forgiven most of Trump's follies, but this actually affects them personally. How dare he do that to them.”
- annaflorin99
“Trump said he could shoot someone in broad daylight and wouldn't lose any votes (paraphrasing). Considering all the terrible things he's done I've come to believe it's actually true.”
- rpaille
🗞️ Making News
Over 1 Million Americans Sign Impeachment Petition Ahead of 'No Kings' Protests
Free Speech For People took out a full-page ad in The New York Times this week demanding Congress impeach and remove Trump — backed by over 1 million signatures on their petition. On December 11, 140 members of Congress voted to advance Rep. Al Green's articles of impeachment, a 77% increase from the prior House vote. The "No Kings" protests Saturday, March 28 are projected to be the largest mass-mobilization in U.S. history, with over 3,000 actions planned worldwide.
ICE Lawyers Fabricated Legal Justification to Detain Thousands at Immigration Courts
ICE lawyers lied to federal prosecutors — and a federal judge — about the legal basis for arresting thousands of people outside immigration courts. Court filings now show the agency memo they cited to justify the arrests "does not and has never authorized" them, according to an ICE attorney's own admission.
The New York Civil Liberties Union called the implications "far-reaching." Meanwhile, thousands remain detained, often hundreds of miles from where their cases were heard.
Trump's Iran War Hits -28 Net Approval as Death Toll Mounts
A Fox News poll — Fox News — now shows Trump's handling of the Iran war at -28 net approval, down from a 50-50 split when strikes began in February. Among independents, it's -58 points. At least 1,464 Iranian civilians have been killed, including 217 children. Thirteen Americans are dead, 200+ wounded. CNN's Harry Enten put it plainly: "This Iran War is, simply put at this point a few weeks in, unpopular."
Disaster for Trump as Inflation Is Set to Soar Due to His War
Trump ran on fixing inflation. Now the OECD is forecasting U.S. inflation hitting 4.2 percent this year — more than a full point above previous projections — because of his war in Iran. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has triggered a global fuel crisis, and the OECD warns "a prolonged period of higher energy prices will add markedly to business costs and raise consumer price inflation." U.S. growth could slow to 1.7 percent by 2027.
Bette Midler Drops a Banger That Has the White House Melting Down
Bette Midler, 80, just released a remake of Woody Guthrie's 1944 anti-fascist anthem calling Trump a pedophile protector — and the White House responded by having a spokesman with degrees from his dad's unaccredited university attack journalists as "glue-sniffing interns." The track rallies fans ahead of nationwide No Kings marches on March 28, and Trump's DOJ is still sitting on 30-plus pages of files related to allegations he sexually abused a minor.

IN DEPTH
The $1.2 Billion Slush Fund Hiding Behind the Word "Peace"
The State Department just gutted $1.2 billion from disaster relief and peacekeeping programs to fund a Trump vanity project that has sent exactly zero dollars to Gaza.
That's not a typo. The Board of Peace — Trump's aptly vague, legally dubious international funding mechanism — has collected billions, promised aid to Gaza, and disclosed nothing about where the money actually goes.
Here's how the money moved.
