THE BIG PICTURE
Trump is coming apart at the seams. He's heading into his third hospital visit in 13 months with bruised hands, big old cankles, and yesterday he appeared to fall asleep in public β again β at Arlington. He spent Memorial Day rage-posting instead of honoring the dead, and resumed bombing Iran right after negotiators said a deal was hours away.
And in Texas today, a five-year grudge may finally hand Democrats their first Senate seat there in over 30 years. The walls keep closing.
5 KEY DEVELOPMENTS
1. Trump's 3rd βAnnual Checkupβ in 13 Months
A president heading into his third hospital visit in just 13 months β that alone would raise eyebrows. But the circumstances around this one are making it impossible to ignore. A top cardiologist has publicly flagged a "serious health concern."
The visible symptoms have been piling up. Photographers have captured Trump's bruised hand covered in beige makeup at public events, his cankles made a surprise cameo in China, and just yesterday he was spotted with his eyes closed for an extended stretch during a speech at Arlington Cemetery.
This is all happening at 79 years old, with two-plus years left in his term.
And the public is noticing. A Washington Post-ABC-Ipsos poll from April found just 44 percent of Americans think Trump has sufficient physical health to be an effective president β down from 54 percent in September. That's a ten-point drop in six months, and it's still moving.
2. Today's Texas Runoff Could Hand Dems a Gift They've Waited 32 Years For
Texas Republicans vote today in a primary runoff between incumbent Senator John Cornyn and scandal-drenched MAGA firebrand Ken Paxton. Trump endorsed Paxton, even though the Republican establishment has been lobbying hard for Cornyn.
Cornyn's grave mistake was refusing to object to the 2020 election certification β and Trump has apparently been keeping score ever since. Prediction markets now have Paxton at nearly 90%.
Democrats are watching this all very closely. Democrats have long viewed Paxton as the easier opponent, and the party is growing openly bullish about the potential of flipping Texas blue β for the first time since 1994. The numbers back them up. A University of Texas poll shows Democrat James Talarico winning by 8 points against Paxton β compared to 7 against Cornyn.
Republican strategist Mike Madrid put it plainly: "I think the chances of the Democrats winning in Texas are better now than they've been in 25 years."
This isn't just left-wing wishcasting β Karl Rove himself warned that a Paxton win could hand the seat to Democrats.
Trump picked his guy. Now he owns the outcome.
3. Trump said Iran talks were "proceeding nicely" β then bombed Iran
The U.S. and Iran are reportedly close to a deal that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end active hostilities β Rubio called it "pretty solid" and said it could materialize "today." But Trump simultaneously resumed bombing Iranian boats and missile sites, posted a provocative "United States of the Middle East" map with Iran filled in using the American flag, and issued a 567-word rant that reportedly made a deal less likely.
Meanwhile, an intelligence leak revealed negotiators can't even reach Iran's Supreme Leader, who has been in hiding since his father was killed on day one of the war. A Democratic congressman is already calling it "a major blunder." Watch for either a dramatic announcement or a dramatic collapse before midnight.

4. Trump's Memorial Day Disgrace
A draft dodger spent the day honoring the fallen by rage posting about "Dumocrats" before 7 a.m., veering off script at official events to make it about himself, and tanking the possibility of an Iran deal. Veterans were not impressed β multiple organizations blasted what they called a Memorial Day "dishonor" from a man who took five deferments.
Also notable: Trump posted a tribute to the late Hulk Hogan with a typo so bad it completely changed the meaning of his nickname. This is the president of the United States.
5. ICE Protesters Hit With Pepper Spray Outside NJ Detention Center
On Memorial Day itself, protesters clashing with ICE agents outside Delaney Hall in New Jersey β where a hunger strike is currently underway β were met with pepper spray and batons, according to The Guardian. This is a direct, on-the-ground story about the human cost of the deportation machine, happening in a major media market.
Separately, The Daily Beast reports that the Trump administration is accused of extracting "eye-watering sums" from people it has effectively banned from the country β what victims are calling a billion-dollar immigration fraud. Thatβs on top of the huge climate cost of harmful emissions from U.S. immigration flights.

Yesterday we asked, Does Melania know more about the Epstein situation than she's letting on? OVER 98% OF YOU SAID YES:
βAbsolutely. Especially after her out-of-the-blue press statement where she denied knowledge. Who does that unless they want to get ahead of a scandal?β
- reborn4219βUh, yeah she sure does. Read 'Nobody's Girlβ and you will realize even the low level slaves knew a whole lot. I don't believe Melania was low level.β
- twoasps
βShe was there so how could she NOT know about Epstein? I'm sick of hearing about both Trump and Melania and can hardly wait until their rein is OVER!!!!!!β
