Is Social Media Hurting Your Child? Your Family May Qualify

Many parents blamed themselves, or their kids, for the hours lost to the feed. But legal claims allege social media companies built in psychological triggers on purpose: intermittent rewards, endless scrolling, toxic social comparison, and recommendation engines that pull kids into content rabbit holes.

Now families are filing legal claims against platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

You may be eligible if:

  • Excessive social media use started under age 18

  • There was a diagnosis of an eating disorder, severe anxiety, depression, or self-harm

ClaimsHero checks whether you qualify for a claim and gets your family justice. Nothing upfront. We only get paid if your claim is successful.

Vanity Fair reports Russia hacked Jared Kushner’s phone and saw $2 billion in secret Gulf money

While Jared Kushner was working in Trump’s first White House, Russian spies hacked his phone and took screenshots of what was on it, according to a bombshell Vanity Fair report.

The report says Kushner was using that phone to access secret accounts holding at least $2 billion from the rulers of Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

One source said Kushner appeared to send some of that money to a warlord, a mercenary and a former hit man.

“Jared promised MBZ that he’d push their agenda with Trump if they participated in a fund,” another source said, referring to the ruler of the UAE.

Kushner called the report “completely insane” and said it “never happened.”

Today, he’s Trump’s special envoy, negotiating peace deals with foreign leaders. If this report is right, Russia has known his secrets the whole time.

And months after he left the White House, his firm got a $2 billion investment from a Saudi fund run by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

“Kushner cannot be in charge of negotiations,” investigative journalist Scott Stedman wrote.

A judge ordered Trump to answer questions under oath in the lawsuit he filed

Trump sued the BBC for $10 billion. Now the BBC gets to ask the questions.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett ordered Trump to sit for a seven-hour deposition by December 11 or face sanctions. She warned his lawyers the whole case could be thrown out if he doesn’t comply.

The deposition was supposed to happen October 16. Trump’s lawyers canceled it and said he couldn’t make time until January because of a “matter of national importance.”

According to the BBC’s lawyers, those matters were a campaign event and a fundraiser.

“He was participating in party politics and prioritized that over sitting for the deposition,” BBC attorney Charles Tobin said.

Trump also asked the judge to keep the cameras off. She said no. For now, only the lawyers on the case get to watch the tape.

The suit is over a 2024 BBC documentary that spliced together two parts of his Jan. 6 speech. The BBC apologized for the edit but says it’s no grounds for a lawsuit.

He picked this fight. Now he gets seven hours on camera, under oath, to finish it.

The U.S. and Israel are planning new strikes on Iran for right after Election Day

The U.S. and Israeli militaries have drawn up plans to resume joint strikes on Iran in the coming weeks, two Israeli sources told ABC News. The New York Times first reported the planning.

Both sources said the strikes would almost certainly come after the November 3 midterms. Trump doesn’t want to shake up oil markets before people vote.

“Hunting season is open as soon as the elections end and it's obvious that they're not going to wait long,” one of them said.

According to one source, the plans came up during Pete Hegseth’s unannounced visit to Israel this week. Possible targets include petrochemical plants and nuclear sites like Pickaxe Mountain.

The White House didn’t exactly deny it. “The United States will not be attacking Iran at any time prior to the midterm elections,” spokesperson Anna Kelly told ABC News.

AOC went to Maine and said Susan Collins “decided to declare open season on us”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took questions from college students in Portland on Thursday with Troy Jackson, the Democrat running to unseat Susan Collins.

The two went after Collins’s record, starting with her vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh.

“Susan Collins, one of the only Republican female senators in a unique position to protect almost every woman in America, decided to declare open season on us instead,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

She also took on the administration’s attacks on trans people, which she said are meant “to get everyone on board with supporting defunding their own civil rights.”

“Understand that when they attack trans girls in sports, they’re also attacking all women’s ability to stand up against their abusers,” she said.

She also spoke to Troy Jackson’s working class roots.

"They call people communists, they call them this or that. But really what it is is they're afraid of a waitress in the House and a logger in the Senate," she said.

Then she turned Washington’s favorite question around: how are we going to pay for this?

“How can we afford Iran? How can we afford Gaza? How can we afford these things when folks at home can’t eat, can’t go to the doctor or build a bridge to get there?” she asked.

Darline Graham calls on Annie Andrews to release her tax returns — except, she already did

Sen. Darline Graham held a press conference in Columbia on Thursday to demand Annie Andrews publish her tax returns.

“Voters deserve to know who pays for Annie Andrews,” Graham said.

One small problem. Andrews already released them.

Graham also accused Andrews of taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in PAC money.

One other problem: that was Graham.

Andrews doesn’t accept corporate PAC contributions, her campaign says, and it was Graham who took more than $150,000 from federal lobbyists and corporate PACs.

Meanwhile, at his rally for Graham at Clemson on Wednesday, Trump called Andrews, a pediatrician and mother of three, an anti-trans slur.

GA Rasmussen poll this month has Graham up just four points, and two September polls had her up by one. Sabato’s Crystal Ball moved the race out of “Safe Republican” this month.

The momentum is in Andrews’ favor.

Nearly 98,000 South Carolinians voted on the first day of early voting, and Election Day is 11 days away. We need all hands on deck to support Annie.

Darline Graham is demanding tax returns that are already public because she knows how close this race is. Trump doesn’t fly into South Carolina to campaign for a seat that’s safe. With 11 days left, every dollar helps Annie reach voters in all 46 counties.

One of Ken Paxton’s biggest donors just switched to James Talarico

Texas personal injury lawyer Thomas Henry gave more than $646,000 in May to Lone Star Liberty PAC, a super PAC backing Ken Paxton.

On Thursday, he posted a video on Twitter. “I’m here to announce my support for James Talarico for United States senator from Texas,” he said.

Henry said he backed Paxton in the primary “because Cornyn had been in office way too long.” Then he sat down with Talarico.

He said that meeting “taught me the values Talarico has,” including “respect, fairness, safety, good economics for Texas and our country.”

He joins Neil Bush, George W. Bush’s brother, who announced this week that he voted for Talarico. Per OpenSecrets, Talarico also just became the top fundraiser of any candidate this cycle.

First a Bush, now a Paxton megadonor. Early voting in Texas runs through October 30.

Hegseth’s aides broke Eisenhower’s World War II globe trying to move it into his office

Pete Hegseth wanted a 30-inch World War II-era floor globe tied to Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower for his office, the Washington Post reports.

His aides skipped the Pentagon’s historians and curators and moved it themselves. The movers dropped it.

The shell was punctured near Antarctica, leaving a gash several inches wide. An Army spokesman said “the spherical portion of the globe was detached from the metal mounting that allows it to rotate.”

It happened February 3, during a partial government shutdown, while the Army’s historians were furloughed. The shutdown ended the same day.

The globe never made it to Hegseth’s office. Pentagon officials wouldn’t let the Post see it, and Hegseth’s office didn’t respond.

The Post says it became “instant fodder for gossip and jokes inside the Pentagon.”

Ty Seidule, a retired brigadier general who taught history at West Point, wasn’t laughing.

“Hegseth is no Ike,” he said. “The globe won’t give him Ike’s attributes of humility, intellect and judgment.”

Trump’s arch could break ground two days after Election Day

The Justice Department told a federal court that construction on Trump’s triumphal arch near Arlington National Cemetery could begin November 5, once the National Capital Planning Commission gives its final approval.

That’s two days after the midterms.

On Thursday, a group of veterans asked Judge Tanya Chutkan to block the arch unless Congress signs off.

The administration, they argued, “failed to obtain (or even to seek) approval from the one body that, by law, must authorize the project: Congress.”

Add it to the list of things this White House has scheduled for after you vote.

A judge says Trump must sit for a seven-hour, videotaped deposition in his own BBC lawsuit by December 11, or risk losing the case. Will he show up?

Waiving sanctions in exchange for Russian diesel fuel was a brazen gift to dictator Vladimir Putin. Even worse, Trump ordered the US military to throttle vital Starshield defense capabilities for Ukraine, exposing the besieged nation of nearly 40 million to deadly Russian drone strikes on the country's power grid, military installations, and civilian targets alike.

Trump is telegraphing to Moscow that American pressure is negotiable and that, for the right price, Russian aggression will be tolerated and even rewarded.
